Sony has never published a forward-looking sale calendar and shows no sign of starting. What it does have is a schedule that barely moves from year to year, which is enough to plan around - and one blind spot that costs far more than any of the dates on it. ## The pattern, and why it is a pattern rather than a schedule Every date below is reconstructed from previous years. None of it is announced. Promotions are confirmed on the PlayStation Blog when they go live, occasionally a day or two ahead, never months.
| 🎃 Halloween Sale | Second half of October | horror-weighted |
| 🛍️ Black Friday / Cyber Monday | Late November | deepest of the year |
| 🎄 Holiday Sale | Mid-December into January | longest running |
| 🧧 Lunar New Year | January - February | |
| 🌱 Spring Sale | March - April | |
| 🎮 Days of Play | Early June | first-party and PS Plus |
Underneath all of it, Deals of the Week rotate every Wednesday, year-round. A title that misses a named event frequently turns up in one of those within a few weeks. ## What has already gone in 2026 The Summer Sale ran from 15 July to 12 August with discounts advertised up to 75%, and it was the last headline event of the first three quarters. September has no named promotion - it is a weekly-deals month, which is normal and not a sign that something is coming. That leaves three events for the rest of the year: Halloween, Black Friday and the Holiday Sale. ## The reason waiting is usually the wrong lever Here is the part the sale calendars leave out. A discount is applied to your region’s base price, and if your region’s base price is high, a good discount still lands above someone else’s ordinary Tuesday.
Germany would need a median discount of 42% just to match what the cheapest storefront charges with no promotion running at all. The UK sits in the same position. Even the US store - the usual baseline - is above the cheapest region on 59% of tracked titles after a hypothetical 30% cut.
A sale moves the price once, for a few weeks. The region gap is there every day of the year, and on most titles it is the larger of the two.
That does not make sales pointless. It makes them the second lever rather than the first, and it means the biggest single-purchase savings come from stacking a sale on top of a cheap region rather than waiting for a deep discount in an expensive one. The full ranking of which regions those are is in the cheapest PSN region breakdown, and the widest gaps in the catalogue are collected in the biggest regional price gaps. ## Whether to wait on a specific game Two things decide it, and neither is the calendar: How old the game is. First-party PlayStation titles follow a fairly predictable curve, dropping hard around the twelve-month mark. Annual sports releases fall faster than anything else. Nintendo-style evergreen pricing is not really a PlayStation phenomenon, but a handful of live-service titles come close. How far your region sits from the cheapest one. If the answer is 5%, waiting for a sale is the right call. If it is 40%, the sale is a rounding error on a decision you have already lost. PS Prices Hub answers the second question on the product page itself, showing every regional price converted to your currency, so you can tell which of the two situations a given game is in before deciding to wait. Or start from the games people are checking most often against the current cheapest storefront:

Questions about PS Store sales
When is the next PlayStation Store sale?
The next headline event after the Summer Sale is the Halloween sale in the second half of October, followed by Black Friday in late November and the Holiday Sale from mid-December. Sony does not announce these in advance, so the dates are a pattern from previous years rather than a schedule.
Does Sony publish a PlayStation Store sale calendar?
No. There has never been a forward-looking official calendar. Each promotion is announced when it starts, usually on the PlayStation Blog, which is why every published calendar including this one is reconstructed from previous years.
How often does the PlayStation Store run sales?
Almost continuously. Deals of the Week rotate every Wednesday year-round, on top of roughly six or seven larger named events a year - Lunar New Year, Spring, Days of Play, Summer, Halloween, Black Friday and the Holiday Sale.
Is it better to wait for a sale or buy in a cheaper region?
For most titles, the region gap is larger than the sale. Across the games we track, a 30% discount in the German store still leaves 639 of 644 games more expensive than their everyday price in the cheapest region. Germany needs a median 42% discount just to draw level.
Do PlayStation Store sales run at the same time in every region?
The events are usually global and start on the same day, but the discount percentages and the list of included titles differ by storefront, and each region discounts from its own base price - so the same sale produces very different final prices.
One more thing worth timing deliberately: subscriptions. PS Plus discounts appear during Days of Play and Black Friday, but a renewal that fires on its own charges full price in whatever region your account sits in - which is a much bigger number, and the subject of avoiding an overpriced PS Plus renewal.
