September’s PS Plus Essential lineup is Sniper Elite: Resistance, Chained Echoes and Wobbly Life, claimable from 1 September to 6 October. Bought outright at US prices, the three of them come to roughly $90 - which is most of what a year of PS Plus Extra costs in the cheapest region we track, and about 60% of what it costs in the most expensive.

The three games

All three are Essential-tier, which means they are included at every paid tier rather than only for Extra or Premium subscribers.

Sniper Elite: Resistance is the stealth-shooter entry, the most substantial of the three, and the one with real money attached - $56.89 in the US store today.

Sniper Elite: Resistance

Wobbly Life is the sandbox-multiplayer pick, at $24.99 in the US store.

Wobbly Life

Chained Echoes is the third, a retro-styled JRPG that has been widely discounted since release and is the smallest of the three by list price.

What is leaving on 15 September

The same date the Extra and Premium catalogue refreshes, ten titles drop out of it - among them Madden NFL 26, Persona 5 Tactica, three Shadowrun RPGs and two Toy Story classics. Anything you are partway through is worth finishing before then, or buying outright. We covered the full exit list and what each one costs in the games leaving PS Plus in September.

Note the two-speed schedule: the Essential three are announced now and land 1 September; the Extra and Premium catalogue is announced 9 September and lands 15 September.

Where the subscription itself costs half as much

The monthly lineup is the same everywhere. What is not the same is the price of the subscription that unlocks it. These are current 12-month PS Plus Extra prices across the sixteen storefronts we track, converted to dollars:

🇯🇵 Japan $73.63 cheapest
🇮🇳 India $90.91
🇹🇷 Turkey $100.03
🇭🇰 Hong Kong $106.51
🇦🇷 Argentina $107.99
🇲🇽 Mexico $110.02
🇧🇷 Brazil $114.67
🇺🇸 United States $134.99
🇬🇧 United Kingdom $136.42
🇦🇺 Australia $141.16
🇩🇪 Germany $147.15 most expensive
2.0x
Germany pays exactly double Japan for the same 12 months of PS Plus Extra
A game price gap is a one-time decision. A subscription price gap repeats every renewal, for as long as you stay subscribed.

That is the part worth thinking about once a year rather than once a month. The full sixteen-region ranking, including Deluxe and the shorter one- and three-month plans, is on our cheapest PS Plus region page, and the reasoning behind the ranking is in PS Plus by region, ranked.

Checking your own tier before it renews

PS Prices Hub has Extra and Deluxe tabs alongside the game comparison, so the subscription price across every region shows up on the PlayStation Store page you are already on, in your currency. That matters most in the weeks before a renewal date, which is when the number is actually actionable.

Common questions

What are the PS Plus Essential games for September 2026?

Sniper Elite: Resistance, Chained Echoes and Wobbly Life. All three are claimable from 1 September through 6 October 2026, and all three are included at every tier - Essential, Extra and Premium.

Do I need PS Plus Extra to claim the monthly games?

No. The monthly games are an Essential-tier benefit, which means every paid tier includes them. Extra and Premium add their own separate catalogues on top, announced on a different schedule.

When are the PS Plus Extra and Premium games for September announced?

The Extra and Premium catalogue update is announced on 9 September and goes live on 15 September 2026 - two weeks behind the Essential lineup, which is the normal cadence.

Which country has the cheapest PS Plus subscription?

Of the sixteen storefronts we track, Japan is cheapest for a 12-month Extra plan at about $73.63, with India second at $90.91. Germany is the most expensive at $147.15 - almost exactly double Japan for the identical tier.

Do I keep the monthly games if my subscription lapses?

Claimed monthly games stay attached to your account permanently, but they only stay playable while a subscription is active. Resubscribing restores access without needing to reclaim them.

If your subscription renews on its own in the next few weeks, the region price above is only half the story - the other half is which region price your account gets charged at the moment it renews, which we covered in avoiding an overpriced PS Plus renewal.
